I now use that word instead of “reincarnation” — which is often associated with concepts and religions other than what I wish to convey, which is the idea of rebirth into a new body based on Biblical (therefore Christian) principles.
Even though I am aware of so-called Christians out there who will outright reject the idea of receiving the gift of life from God more than once, I refuse to reject my own lived experience in favor of a specific perspective and interpretation of Scripture.
I studied Scripture extensively, and was unable to find logical and reasonable contradictions to what I define as Palingenesis.
My definition
- The process is entirely at His discretion.
- Another life is a gift, not a given — therefore acknowledging the urgency for Salvation in this life, not an assumed future one.
- It does not diminish the reality of hell, because God retains the final judgment call to cast a soul out of the chance at a new life.
- It solves moral and existential problems by offering a more intuitive just framework for the vast inequalities of the human experience.
- It allows a new kind of Hope: God permitting, more chances to be a part of the wonders of this world and a part of the Christian (Spiritual) Church — even after death.
